Ducky's Weekend Update

Forecast: Pissy

Um, let me just express my disgust at the moment for all things digital. I was in Chicago this past weekend for a friend's wedding and returned home this morning to find that my DVR had basically died. It reset itself somehow. I mean, erased the hard drive, removed all progamming features, and lost all scheduled recordings that were in there as series records.

So I've seen nothing that aired on Sunday. No Amazing Race. No Cold Case. No Without a Trace. No Brothers and Sisters. No happy!

How was your weekend?

  • That, my friend, is my worst nightmare. If it's any consolation, you wouldn't have seen TAR anyway since damn football meant that the DVR only recorded half the episode.

  • resolution for TAR/football issues...although I don't watch "Cold Case"...I have it set on a season pass...that way, you can watch the 2nd 1/2 of TAR on the second recording. I did it last week and this week, and it worked like a charm...I think it will be a problem every week. As for the recorder dying?...mine did the same last year...condolences to you...I was heartbroken, it had my little brother's last college football game recorded on it (waiting for me to put it on tape) is gone...and I was without TIVO for about a week until I got the technician to come out...not cool...after I got over that (hard to do) I got a second dvr for my bedroom, that way if I have this happen again, I won't be so annoyed, and at least have a back-up for the things I can't miss. Hang in there. Love your blog!

  • GMMR, I know you're a worried Sally about it. I never was but now am. I only got to see The Convention episode once, so now I have to wait or download it from iTunes if I want to obsess over the hysterics and sad moments.

  • marcy smith, honey I usually do that too. I actually got hooked on a couple shows by having it record the next hour as well. I forgot football season was starting. I know right, imagine that?

Funny story on how unathletic I am and how I could care less if every sports stadium blew up... we were in Chicago yesterday on the El and I saw all these folks with Cubs shirts on. I thought they were heading to the game... you know, the one at Soldier's Field. Well we pass Roosevelt (the stop closest to the field) and I wonder why people didn't get off. Seriously the next stop was not closer. As I was just about to tell these folks that they missed their stop (you know, because I don't live there and they do so I should know better then they) I tell Jon and he just stares at me like "Are you kidding me"...

"Um, they're coming BACK from the CUBS game at WRIGLEY FIELD, not going to the BEARS FOOTBALL GAME jackass."

Well how was I supposed to know?

  • Oh and another thing... I seriously JUST THIS SECOND realized that my DVR died and I've not yet seen the PREMIERE OF SUPERNATURAL!!!

A plague on the house of Comcast and Motorola!

That ain't right at all folks.

  • If you can't find it elsewhere, you can watch last night's TAR here:

It's split into 4 different parts but it's all there. :)
