Boycott ShopNBC: Fur Is Dead

As some of you know there is nothing more in this world that I hate than Fur. It's the most cruel vile industry dedicated to vanity and consumerism and I just won't stand for it. I've been a vegan or vegetarian for more than half of my life now and I've spent many a cold winter protesting fur boutiques, department stores, and taunting old blue hairs in pelts because I feel its important.

Thanks to my friends at Peta2.com, this year we have yet another target in the battle against fur and this one translates to TV! ShopNBC (which BTW has the worst production value on earth, it's like watching cable access) in the past had agreed to not sell fur on their shopping network. Guess what? They've gone back on that statement. Here is some information from Peta2 about ShopNBC.

Less than a year after promising to adopt a permanent fur-free policy, ShopNBC—NBC's TV shopping channel and online retailer—has gone back on its word, despite the fact that other leading clothing retailers, like Forever 21, J.Crew, Polo Ralph Lauren, and others, have pulled fur from their stores. We need your help to convince ShopNBC to stop supporting the cruel fur industry!

Animals on fur farms spend their entire lives exposed to all weather conditions in cramped, filthy wire cages. Many go insane from the intensive confinement. Fur farmers use the cheapest and cruelest killing methods, including suffocation, electrocution, gassing, and poisoning. Crude killing methods aren't always effective, and sometimes animals wake up while they are being skinned.

With so many fashionable, comfortable faux-fur styles available, there is no excuse for ShopNBC to sell anything made with real fur. Please take a moment to call ShopNBC's CEO at his office and let him know that you are outraged that his company broke its promise to go fur-free, and tell him to stop selling the skins of tortured animals once and for all!

  • Laaame, NBC! I probably wouldn't shop there anyway, but thanks for the heads-up! I guess an online protest is the way to go, since you can't really stand outside a ShopNBC with a bullhorn handing out pamphlets to potential shoppers...

    (Also, yay fellow vegan!)

  • You're goddamn right! It's freakin' cruel and immoral to kill innocent animals to make some fashionable fur coat! I was born in Utah, and we had some freezing ass winters there. Even then I felt sorry for them lil furry creatures and wore only synthetic coats
